Surfside and Oasis Neighborhoods

Next are two more appealing neighborhoods just North of Beach Pkwy.  The Western portion is the Surfside area, and to the East is the Oasis community.  Both of these, like much of the SW, is made up of well maintained, late model homes.

If you are going through this Buyer’s guide in sequential order, you’ll note how the boating runs are getting progressively a bit longer as you move further North. That is again the case here, with run times here being about 15 minutes longer than the section below it, the area South of Beach Pkwy.  And again, as you move further North, you are getting a bit more for your money.

The boat lock again applies and there is just one bridge along the way with a slightly shorter 8’6” clearance.  I’m also including the small section just to the East of Oasis Blvd in this portion of town.  It’s boating run is a little longer still and a second taller bridge will be passed though along the way out.

The Western portion, known as the Surfside area, has a lovely procession of high-end homes as it borders the very Westernmost edge of the city. These cul-de-sac streets also have no traffic, further adding to their appeal.  The entire area is very pretty.

And on the Eastern side you will find the Oasis area.  It is quite a nice community as well.  Oasis sit closer to a few schools, so some slow speed zones apply (on Oasis Pkwy itself) and there’s a daily lineup of cars with parents picking their kids up from those schools, but they all pull to the side of the road so it’s typically a non-issue.

Many of my clients that are seeking late model homes, who want an appealing neighborhood, who are flexible on boating run times, are parking a vessel under 28 feet and who aren’t looking to spend much above the $400s find this to be the right match.

You do give up the quicker boating access to be here, but some very respectable homes can be found at very reasonable prices because of it.

Boating access out is noted below. These areas, like everything West of Chiquita Blvd, all pass out through a man operated boat lock as well.

Who this area is recommended for

This area is recommended for:

Buyers spending in the high $300s+ who find the prices to the more Southern section too high but who are willing to have 15 minute longer boating runs to keep the price down.

For those who are shopping at this lower price point, but who still place a much stronger emphasis on the quality of the home, the canal views and widths and the neighborhood appeal much more so than on boating run times.

If you after pool homes built since 2000, for those spending in the $400s+. And for those who are considering 1990s construction, starting in the high $300s.+

It’s is also a good target for those who wish to rent their property out part of the time as a vacation rental.

It is appropriate only for those looking to accommodate a vessel under approximately 28 feet in length, given the bridge clearance of 8’6” and only for those who are okay with being behind the boat lock and the longer boating run.
